Michael T. Lucas – CEO & Founder

Michael T. Lucas is the Chairman and founder of Unisone. As the Company’s lead inventor, Mr. Lucas was awarded U.S. patent number 6,996,538, on February 7, 2006 from the U.S. Patent office and has over 18 other patents pending in the United States. Through the leadership and vision of Mr. Lucas, Unisone has built a broad patent portfolio spanning across 32 countries, formed an RFID systems integration company, acquired a robust ERP software company, Pangaea Systems, and established equity ownership in companies such as TradeMotion Software, the leader in e-commerce automotive parts procurement, and Herdstar, LLC, an innovative systems provider for livestock producers using RFID. The Company has established customers, including Fortune 100 companies, government and defense contractors, and automotive industry suppliers. Mr. Lucas also serves as the President and CEO of Unisone affiliate Intelligentz Corporation.

 

 

James H. Smith

Jim Smith joined Unisone as the CEO of subsidiary Invinity Systems in 2002, bringing over 34 years of successful and dynamic experience in electronic distribution and manufacturing, pharmaceutical wholesaling and software application solutions. Mr. Smith was formerly the President of the world’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler, McKesson Drug.  With $10 billion in annual sales, Mr. Smith was responsible for restructuring, cost reduction programs, increasing inventory turns and creating focused market share programs with suppliers that increased gross profit. Prior to McKesson Drug, Mr. Smith was President of Hamilton/Avnet, the world’s largest component distributor. Under his leadership, Hamilton/Avnet led the industry with market share growth while lowering costs. Mr. Smith also led the integration team after Avnet acquired Hallmark, the industry’s #3 component distributor.

 

 

W. J. Kitchen

W.J. Kitchen is a board member and key advisor to Unisone and its affiliate Invinity.  He brings more than 30 years of executive experience in corporate management, manufacturing, product design and R&D in the electronics, software, semiconductor, military and biotechnology industries. Mr. Kitchen was formerly the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ameranth Wireless Inc. Prior to Ameranth, he was Senior Vice President for Operations & Product Development at Nanogen, Inc. Mr. Kitchen served as the Corporate Vice President, Director of Technology & Quality for Motorola for over 15 years. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kitchen was the Deputy Chief, Office of Standards and Evaluations for the National Security Agency. He has an active advisory career as a director for Coors Tek, member of the Department of Defense Advisory Group on Electron Devices, member of the Defense Science Board Task Force on Microelectronics Research Board and Board of Trustees-University of Virginia School of Engineering.

 

 

Bernard Puckett

Bernard Puckett assists Unisone as the Chairman’s advisor for Mr. Lucas.   He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Openwave Systems. Prior to the merger of Phone.com and Software.com, Mr. Puckett was a director of Software.com. He is the former president and chief executive officer of Mobile Telecommunications Technologies Corporation (Mtel) and SKYTEL Paging. Prior to joining Mtel in 1994, Mr. Puckett spent 26 years with IBM, and retired as Senior Vice President-Corporate Strategy and Development. Previously, he held the position of President and CEO of IBM's mainframe business as well as positions in marketing, finance, product development, manufacturing and new business development. He also serves on the boards of IMS Health and DirectInsite.

 

 

Steve Barnhill

Steve Barnhill joins the Intelligentz team of advisors with over 15 years of wholesale food brokerage experience. Mr. Barnhill currently manages the natural food division of ISI from Denver, Colorado. Mr. Barnhill will provide his knowledge of the industry to assist Intelligentz with strategic marketing decisions on reaching our core customer base.

 

 

Michael Besancon

Michael Besancon has more than three decades of experience in the natural foods industry working on all sides of the business from retailer to broker. In 1994, he began working for Whole Foods Market and since then has held a number of positions, rising from Director of Purchasing to Vice President of the Southern Pacific Region to President of the Mid-Atlantic Region. For the past four years he has been the President of the Southern Pacific Region, an area that encompasses Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Arizona and Nevada. He has helped place Whole Foods Market at the forefront of retailers leading the charge for environmental awareness.

 

 

Gregory L. Tarr

Gregory L. Tarr held the position of President and CEO for a co-operative grocery wholesaler in the Pacific Northwest serving four states and approximately 1400 customers with full line merchandise and support services until his announcement he was retiring December 31,2003. URM is the 8th largest employer in the state of Washington and has been in business for over 80 years. During the last five years, URM has grown market share and increased profitability opposite the national trends for independent grocers and co-operative across the country. We orchestrated the purchase of our largest customer, Rosauers Stores Inc, and secured volume while paying down the dept at an accelerated rate. Sales increased from $470 Million to $700 Million. URM has had four consecutive years of record profits and patronage for its member-owners during this same 5-year time frame. Mr. Tarr was the Senior VP Western Region at McKesson Corporation from 1990 to 1998. He was responsible for the control of one of three regions nationally, including all sales and operations for eleven-distribution centers (Anchorage, Honolulu, Everett, Spokane, Portland, Billings, Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Sacramento and Los Angeles) Annual sales budget of $3.5 Billion dollars. Starting in 1986, Gregory held the position of VP Distribution for Rawson Drug and Sundry, while providing products and services to eight western states. Their annual sales were in excess of $125 million. During this time, McKesson Corporation purchased Rawson and incorporated their business into existing McKesson Locations. Rawson ceased to exist after 1990. From 1985-1986 Mr. Tarr was maintaining the warehouse responsibilities for the Milpitas distribution center as Division Manager and assuming the additional responsibilities of the Fleming Fremont and Oakland distribution centers. Products included grocery, frozen food, deli, fresh meat and produce with annual sales of $600 million.

 

 

Gary M. Erickson

Gary M. Erickson has served as a Director of Accredited Home Lenders, Inc. since March 2003 and as Lead Director since January 2004. He served as a Director of Accredited's wholly owned subsidiary, Accredited Home Capital, from 1995-2003. Mr. Erickson is chairperson of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Compensation Committee of Accredited's Board.

Mr. Erickson is currently practicing law at the Law Office of Gary Erickson, emphasizing business law, estate planning, real estate law and taxation. Mr. Erickson is also President and Chief Executive Officer of Seacoast Real Estate and Development Co., Inc., a San Diego real estate investment and development firm.

In April 2004, Mr. Erickson retired as an active duty Navy Captain in command of a Navy reserve region consisting of 10,000 personnel assigned to 330 reserve units. He has also served as the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff for the Commander, Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet. As a Commander, he performed Chief Executive Officer equivalent functions for operational forces comprised of 5,500 personnel assigned to twelve Navy ships and managed assets valued in excess of $8 billion. As Chief of Staff, he performed Chief Operating Officer equivalent functions for the 23,000 personnel assigned to all Navy ships and shore support activities in the Pacific Fleet. Mr. Erickson served in the Navy from 1974-2004.

Mr. Erickson earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Lewis and Clark Law School in 1983 and a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1992. He is a member of the State Bars of California and Oregon and is a licensed real estate broker in California.

 

 

Lieutenant General Kenneth R. Wykle US Army (Retired)

Lieutenant General Kenneth R. Wykle US Army (retired) joins the Intelligentz Advisory Board with more than 30 years of progressive experience and documented success leading and managing large organizations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, concentrating on leveraging technology in logistics and transportation operations. General Wykle served in a variety of command and staff positions during his distinguished military career in the Transportation Corps. His last military assignment involved managing global transportation operations as Deputy Commander, U.S. Transportation Command. After retirement in 1995, he joined Science Applications International Corporation as Vice President of Defense Transportation and developed defense business for the Transportation Sector. In 1997, he returned to public service as the Federal Highway Administrator, U.S. Department of Transportation where he led 3,000 employees with offices in all 50 states and championed the Intelligent Transportation System deployment as the Interstate System for the 21st century. In 2001, he returned to private industry as the Senior Vice President, Public Sector, Savi Technology, Inc. General Wykle assumed his current position as President of the National Defense Transportation Association, a non-profit, non-political, educational association, in October 2002 where he works directly with top executives of the major transportation companies.
